3 Weeks On The Inside

Today marks three weeks of incarceration! Let me give you a run down of the day in the life of a woman carrying quadruplets in antepartum:

Wake up
Tocolytic monitoring for contracions (20 min)
Ultrasound (M, W. F) (20 min)
Pool (T, TH: yay a little time away from the hospital) (This one actually takes up time between travel and actual time in the pool)
Shower (one of my favorite parts of the day, always feel better after a shower)

That covers the morning . . .

Nap
Maybe a visitor
Maybe some reading
Jackson and Kristen come for a little while
T.V. or more reading
Tocolytic monitoring
Meds
Bed

If you think that sounds exciting, well, you can come trade places with me! There's of course a lot of eating and drinking thrown into the mix, blood pressure, temperature and heart rate taken twice a day, plus a nurse asssessment of swelling, etc twice a day, but that is the standard day. Some days pass more quickly and some drag by. I can't complain too much though because a lot of women on this floor are stuck in their beds and I am allowed to move around my room and walk down to get my own water and leave the floor in a wheelchair, so at least I have some freedom!

Everything continues to go well. I have had a few more contractions last night and today, but nothing concerning. My ultrasound this morning showed all babies doing well. Baby C & D both had slightly elevated resistance through their cords this morning, but both are still within the normal range, just high normal. My cervix is still measuring between 3.7 and 4 cm, which is great and my blood pressure is still low. The only hitch is that I am not gaining weight. I reported that my doctor wanted me to continue to gain and I feel like I have eaten a ridiculous amount of food that would normally put weight on me by just looking at it, but when they weighed me this morning, I hadn't gained an ounce since last Friday!! I'm not sure how this is possible, but I guess I just need to work harder. I'm having Clint bring me a Blizzard when he comes later to contribute to the cause :)

28 weeks and 3 days today. Going strong. I have my construction paper chain made and hung to count down to 32 weeks (which my high risk doctor thought was great when he saw it). Sometimes I look at it and think, "That doesn't look like much," and other times I think," That chain looks so long!" When Clint came in last night and saw it for the first time he said, "Man that's really long." I thought about having him barred from the hospital after that, but he quickly recanted and said, "I guess it's not that long." I guess I'll let him come back, I need the company and someone to bring me food from the outside once in a while :)

On a side note, here is a picture of the fabric my mom got to make bedding for the girls' crib. It doesn't match the other bedding, but they will eventually be in two different rooms and it's soooo cute.

We're using the dandilion fabric at the top and the hot pink fabric with the small white dots at the bottom!

Praying for a calm and quiet weekend while my high risk doctor is out of town and looking forward to my dad coming to town tomorrow!
