The conductor ushered us on, the waiters sang and danced, the chocolate was hot, the hobo was tattered and Santa was of course magical. To what else could I be referring but the Polar Express!
We took Jackson on a magical train ride to the "North Pole" complete with golden ticket and magic bell from Santa's sleigh. We've been once before a couple of years ago, but I don't know that he really remembered. He had the best time. He couldn't wait to go to the North Pole, he talked about it all day, though afterward he did say, "it wasn't the really North Pole, just the pretend one" and he couldn't wait to ride on the train and he couldn't wait to talk to Santa! He stared out the window watching for the North Pole all the way there, but as excited as we was, he got a little shy when any of the characters came to talk to him. I thought he was barely going to be able to contain his excitement at seeing Santa, but when Santa actually came to talk to him, he was very quiet.
I think my favorite character was the hobo. I don't really know why, there was just something about him. We had a great time because Jackson had a great time, but I have to admit that we had better time when we went two years ago. I don't know if it was just because we went with a bigger group that time or because the character just seemed a little more animated that year, but all in all a good experience. We did leave the babies at home with Uncle Jacob, so the best part was that Jackson got a little big boy time with just mommy and daddy and I think he needed that!
Maybe next year we'll take the whole crew! What fun that would be!
