Conversations With Jackson

If I ever need a good laugh, I just have to have a conversation with Jackson. It never fails, you never know what's going to come out of his mouth. Yesterday was an especially entertaining day, with two enjoyable conversations, both leaving me wondering where they came from.

The first went something like this. . .

I walked into Jackson's room where he was playing quietly because the babies had gone down for their nap and we were going to make banana blueberry muffins. When I walked in, Jackson was doing a puzzle quietly, but had a sad look on his face. The following conversation ensued:

Mommy: "Hey buddy, what's up?"
Jackson: "This is not my life. I'm just a kid." (said very sadly)
Mommy: "What?!"
Jackson: "This world is not my life. I'm just a kid."
Mommy: "What world?"
Jackson: "This world" (As he gestures in general to the world around him.)

After prying a little more into the matter, I finally figured out that he wanted another kid to play with. He had played hard with kids all weekend and was feeling a little lonely with just a mommy and babies to keep him company! I just don't know about that kid.

The second conversation, that came out of the blue right after he got home from a friend's house and babies were playing quietly and I was making dinner (no chaos at the time) . . .

Jackson: "Mommy, you shouldn't be here all by yourself. You need some help."
Mommy: "What are you talking about?"
Jackson: "You shouldn't be here all by yourself."
Mommy: "Why? Who should be here with me?"
Jackson: "Daddy should be here because there's too much babies. You're just crazy!"

Who knows where he comes up with this stuff, but as his vocabulary increases (almost daily), it's so funny to listen to him trying to articulate his feelings in new ways, especially when he uses his new words in the wrong context (like when he told Aunt Jessica to see how "jealous" his shirt looked on him). Like I said, always good for a laugh!
