5 Funny Valentine's

Since Valentine's Day is on Tuesday, we opted for an early celebration so we could enjoy it with Daddy (actually I work on Tuesdays too, so really no one would have celebrated). So, on this very snowy Sunday (I think we got at least 3 inches!!), I dressed the kids in red and hearts and then during their very long afternoon nap, I set out the Valentine's decorations and gifts and started baking! Nothing fancy, just biscuits for strawberry shortcake tonight, but I did tint them to make them pink!

Then I made pink sugar cookie dough for heart shaped cookies for Jackson's Valentine's party at school. We'll roll those out and bake them tomorrow together. We still have to make Jackson's Valentine's box for school, but he played at his cousins' house all day (probably freezing to death in the snow and loving every minute of it). So I guess we'll do that later. . .

After nap and getting big brother back to the house, it was time for Valentine's presents!!

Jackson got a new RescueBot and the little people got nesting dolls. The girls got sock monkey nesting dolls and the boys got dinosaur nesting dolls. We discovered that they love these at Granna's this Christmas with her Santa Claus nesting dolls. Granna sent them candy and white pudding that we can color with food coloring and "finger paint!" She also sent perler beads so Jackson can make fun magnets!! Clint looked a little dismayed when he saw all the small pieces on that one, but Jackson will love doing it!

After presents . . . SNOW of course. Jackson was dying to build a snowman with Daddy. Last time it was snowing, Daddy was a work and didn't get to play with us, so of course, Jackson couldn't wait to get out their with him. Daddy wasn't sure he was so excited about getting out in the cold, but once he was out there, he was having a BLAST too!! The snow was really soft and the flakes were really HUGE, so they had a little trouble packing it to make a snowman, so they made a "snowghost" instead. And true to form, we carted all the tiny monsters out in the snow again too!

By the time all these pictures were done being taken, we had four crying, cold babies. I took them inside and gave them suckers as a peace offering. Everyone accepted this, except Brooklyn who remained mad for about 10 minutes before she accepted her sucker and forgave me freezing her (and she was one of the ones who enjoyed it a little, sheesh!).

We finished the day with dinner with Aunt Kiki and pink strawberry shortcake. I think it was a hit, what do you think? If you are thinking that Jackson's whip cream looks awfully gooey, it's not whip cream. Since he is allergic to milk and can't have whip cream, he asked if he could have marshmallow cream on his!

It was a good Valentine's Day! To be honest, I'm not much one for couple's Valentine's celebrations. You can go out to dinner any day of the year and who needs flowers that cost 5 times more just because of the day you got them on!? But, doing fun Valentine's stuff with kids, now that's is something fun and worth doing!!
