What A Difference A Year Makes

You hear this all the time and it holds so much truth. One year ago today, I took Jackson to daycare and went to the doctor for a blood draw. After waiting for what seemed like forever to hear back, the doctor's office finally called with the joyous news that we were in fact pregnant! What an amazing day! The nurse told me that my HCG level (the hormone they test for) was over 800!! With Jackson, my first HCG level was a little over 200. She then informed me that multiples were a possibility with a number so high. Then, the doctor called me herself. She congratulated me, then carefully explained that she highly suspected multiples given the number (in retrospect, I think on some level, she already suspected what was going on). During Clint's lunch, I drove to his work to tell him in person and to tell him that they thought it might be more than one! He too was very excited, then asked me how many, I told him I didn't know, but twins, maybe triplets, at which point he looked a little green (if he had only known what we were really in for . . .) Two days later, we did the second blood draw (they want the number to double in two days time), this level was over 2400!!! Oh my! In retrospect maybe I should have been more nervous, but I just wasn't! I was overjoyed and I anxiously and excitedly awaited the ultrasound that was two weeks away! I'll admit that I was a little nervous about the idea of triplets, but I allowed myself to get used to it just in case, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that there were FOUR tiny intruders taking up residence in my uterus! It's one year later and our lives are forever changed by those "intruders". Brooklyn, Gage, Westin, and Kynlee along with their equally amazing brother Jackson continue to enrich our lives daily. We've come full circle in one year: joy, fear, anger, denial, more fear, acceptance, more fear, and finally back to JOY! What a roller coaster it has been and what an amazing journey we have begun! (Now for a few random pictures of those tiny people that are responsible for the roller coaster :)

What does this next year have in store? Only time will tell. . .
